At the SIHH 2017 we have assisted at the launch of the collection Clifton Club, the watch made for the “gentlesportsmen”, born from a partnership between Baume & Mercier and the American car company: Shelby American. After 63 years, on Sunday June 10 2018, the motor racing made its great return to Switzerland, with the Formula E Grand Prix. It has been an historic and futuristic event, promoted by TAG Heuer, , the famous brand of luxury watches.

The exciting E-Prix, with cars 100% electric took place in Zurich, Switzerland on the new circuit Julius Baer that hit the streets of the Swiss city.
Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer’s CEO and founding partner of the FIA Championship Formula E since 2014 and Fathi Derder, Swiss National Councillor, guided this Round 10 of the championship.

On the racetrack, on board of the 20 electric cars, the best pilots like Nelson Piquet, Edoardo Mortara and Sébastien Buemi, have raced showing their skills and cold-blood.
The race has been timed by TAG Heuer, who at the end has declared the winner Lucas Di Grassi from Audi Sport Abt Schäffler.

Jay Chou is the new entry in the TUDOR Ambassadors world. With the new collection TUDOR 1926, it’s his turn to represent the spirit of TUDOR: “Born to Dare”.

The most important event of the year dedicated to watchmaking and jewelery is back. Baselworld 2018 opens on March 22nd at Basel, which since 1917 has been synonymous with luxury and innovation. Scheduled until March 27, 2018 (the day dedicated to the press will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018), the event sees this year contract only 6 days compared to the usual 8, a symptom of the period of decline that is going through the industry despite recent positive signs.

Baselworld 2018: the show

Less days does not mean less show because, between parties and conferences, appointments are not lacking and even brands. With over 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world ready to impress with the luxury of masterpieces of watchmaking and precious stones, the fair will host brands such as Rolex, Omega, Chanel Orologerie, Hublot and TAGHeuer, just to name a few. There will also be a space dedicated to the smaller and more independent brands, concentrated in the Les Ateliers area to give rise to new aesthetic and mechanical visions in terms of movements, dials and precious jewels.

The location is always the same: the trade fair Schweizer Mustermesse Basel (MuBa – MCH Swiss Exhibition Basel LTD., 4005 Basel, Switzerland) renovated in 2013 to give rise to 141,000 square meters of exhibition in which to get lost in jewelry, watches, large brand and emerging names, discover new trends and be enchanted by the charm of luxury (see below the map). BULGARI: how a Maison is born

If it is true that his birth is due to the Greek Sotirios Voulgaris who came to Italy in search of fortune in 1881, his story is profoundly and intimately Italian. It is in Rome that Bulgari sinks its aesthetic roots, acquiring its historicity already in the etymology of the brand where the Latin was preferred to the Greek. It was 1894. Sotirios with the partner Demetrio Kremos open BVLGARI, a shop in via Sistina in Rome dedicated to the sale of silver jewelery. The history of Bulgari watchmaking is in fact closely linked to its goldsmith production. Bulgari has been creating a timepiece for women for over a century. This is testified by the Maison’s archives that remind us of the sparkling debut, in 1920, of the first model with diamonds. However, it was in the Forties with the launch of Serpenti, the Bulgari collection of supple and seductive watches-jewel, that its watches enter the collective imagination, becoming the spokesman of a unique and recognizable style. The sinuous design of the Serpenti collection of timepieces is then revisited in the Fifties with the launch of the Tubogas models, realized thanks to the expertise of the goldsmiths’ homonymous technique. 1975 opens with the phenomenon BVLGARI ROMA and the limited edition presentation of 100 specimens, initially offered only to the best customers of the Maison, but which subsequently triggered a great demand, which was answered in 1977, with the launch of the historical BVLGARI BVLGARI collection with double engraving, inspired by the inscriptions on ancient Rome coins. The men’s line debuted in 1988: the Diagono models are born, to wear every day, dedicated to the active but elegant man.

In 1993 the launch of the Carbon Gold Bulgari collection was a real revolution so that the collection became an icon of the watchmaking world. The reason is simple: the collection has paved the way for all kinds of research on alloys and metals, giving rise to surprising and unexpected combinations. Re-edited in 2016 with a super-current look (see photo on the cover), the watch offers yesterday as today the pleasant sensation of wearing an extraordinary and unique watch.

Citing the official BVLGARI sources, in 2004, the Maison is pleased to present Grandes Complications, the first line of watches produced internally where the ingenuity of the tourbillon movements is combined with exceptional compositions. The brand’s creativity does not stop and in 2015, it translates into the refinement of the new DIVAS ‘DREAM timepieces. The Swiss brand launches a new oscillator that represents one of the greatest innovations in watchmaking since the invention of the principle of balance and spiral invented by the scientist Christiaan Huygens back in 1675. Presented yesterday at Le Locle in Switzerland after the announcement given to press at a conference held at the Manufacture Zenith in Le Locle and hosted by Jean-Claude Biver, president of the Watch Division, together with Zenith CEO Julien Tornare and Guy Sémon, CEO of the LVMH Institute of Sciences, the DEFY LAB is now reality thanks to the work of the Watch Division of the group led by Guy Sémon.


Making the difference is above all the movement that, with respect to Christiaan Huygens’ invention, foresees a new oscillator that forms a monolithic complex, made of monocrystalline silicon (with subtler details than a human hair), and which replaces the equilibrium in Suspension. The 30 components of the standard adjustment member (requiring assembly, adjustment, timing, testing and lubrication) are then replaced by a single element with a thickness of just 0.5 mm (compared to the usual 5 mm) that beats at the incredible frequency 15 Hertz, with an amplitude of +/- 6 degrees and has a power reserve of almost 60 hours – more than 10% more than that of El Primero – despite the frequency is 3 times higher.

The insensitivity to temperature, gravity and magnetic fields eliminates the key weaknesses of the current rocker arm assemblies and springs subjected to deformation and / or dilatation, making the watch gain the triple certification, including the chronometric one displayed in the emblematic symbol of the vipera, conferred by the Besançon Observatory, on behalf of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. As far as thermal behavior is concerned, the spectrum of the ISO-3159 standard has been extended: the variants of about 0.3 seconds per day and degrees of deviation are certified, equal to double the recommended amount. Finally, the watch meets the ISO-764 magnetic criteria, exceeding 18 times (for the completed watch), which means it can withstand 88,000 Amperes per meter or 1,100 Gauss.
